Thursday, March 23 marks the fifth full day, and fourth weekday, of the 2023 AMPP Annual Conference + Expo, which will host a number of exciting and informative symposia for attendees. Among the notable symposia taking place on the fifth and final day of the conference are:

High Temperature Materials and Corrosion: Chaired by Bill Valerioti and vice-chaired by Bingtao Li, Haynes International, this symposium features technical papers for the experience, testing, study, and practice of alloys and coatings when exposed to temperatures of 400 °C and above. The topics include material properties and performance, corrosion cause and mechanism, analysis and characteristics, alloy and coating development, and corrosion management in the processes of power generation, refining, chemical and petrochemical industries.  

Machine Learning for Corrosion Management: Chaired by Francois Ayello of DNV GL and vice-chaired by Hao Chen of Energy Transfer Partner, this symposium features technical papers on how to model and/or manage corrosion using new machine learning techniques. This may include information on how to deal with large data sets, create digital twins, and model corrosion (or other time-dependent material degradation mechanisms) using artificial networks, Bayesian networks, decision trees, or other methods.  

New Organic Coating Technologies for Reduced Environmental Impact and Enhanced Protection: Chaired by Sean Fowler of Q-Lab Corporation and vice-chaired by Wei Wang of Arkema, this symposium features technical papers on recent innovations in coatings science with a direct relevance for protective coating systems, including new waterborne hybrid materials marrying conventional resins with fluorine and silicon chemistry, and new crosslinking approaches with lower impact on the environment and applicator health and safety. This symposium will explore the impact of these new innovations in full protective coating systems.
