Navigating Opportunities in Shipbuilding: AMPP Members Play Vital Role

Tuesday’s “Government Affairs Forum: Navigating Opportunities in Shipbuilding” brought together Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) members and industry professionals for an engaging discussion on the future of U.S. shipbuilding.

Specifically, the conversation addressed the vital role that our community plays in it.

Led by AMPP CEO Alan Thomas, the forum explored how recent bipartisan efforts in Washington are creating new pathways for involvement, growth, and influence across shipyards and supply chains. Attendees gained insight into AMPP’s advocacy strategy, how to get involved in shaping policy, and what’s ahead.

Hosted by the AMPP Political Action Committee at the AMPP 2025 show in Nashville, the forum emphasized that your voice matters—and that together, we can help steer the course of the materials protection industry.

For more information on AMPP’s involvement and potential opportunities ahead, check out these links from the association and listen to our newly released podcast with D. Terry Greenfield, AMPP’s accredited representative to the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
