In an ever-evolving labor environment, today’s workers must learn how to cultivate teams that are dynamic, vibrant, and highly effective. This effort will require a robust and resilient workforce in which individuals are empowered to become drivers of meaningful change and improvement.
These were among the concerns that informed the AMPP Annual Conference + Expo 2025 session entitled “Strengthening Our Future: Sustaining and Enhancing a Leading Workforce.” Held on Tuesday afternoon, the primary address was delivered by Leonelle Thompson, manager of legal business operations at Williams. It was followed by a panel discussion featuring Thompson; Nurul Mohamed of Petroliam Nasional Berhad; and Amanda Shank of ONEMESA.
In her keynote, Williams addressed several topics—chief among them were the current workforce landscape, workforce challenges, skills-based approaches, and strategies for workforce development.
As Williams explained, more and more workers—and millennials in particular—are looking to explore second careers as a potential opportunity for personal and professional growth. This means that skills such as creative thinking and resilience, flexibility and agility, and lifelong learning are becoming increasingly important for today’s workers.
Following the keynote, Williams, Mohamed, and Shank conveyed their experiences in their respective fields and took questions from the audience related to workforce development. And if that wasn’t all, event host ONEMESA even provided refreshments in the form of juice, smoothies and coffee, which helped keep attendees both engaged and sated.
Monday’s presentations at the AMPP Conference + Expo 2025 will feature three key symposia covering subjects such as pipeline integrity, corrosion management, and military coatings and corrosion.
