Artificial intelligence (AI) has been growing in interest for the last several years. But how is it being leveraged in the corrosion industry?
The AMPP Annual Conference + Expo 2025 in Nashville has several AI- and machine learning (ML)-themed sessions and presentations, including a day-long Research Topical Symposium (RTS) on emerging technologies in corrosion on Tuesday.
The RTS features 13 presentations focused on AI and ML. Presenters will discuss the use of AI and ML to discover, assess, and analyze corrosion issues in a range of industries and alloys. There will also be presentations focused on predicting and modeling corrosion using AI and ML tools. One presentation will also talk about using AI to discover new corrosion inhibitors.
Presentations start at 8:00 a.m. local time and continue until 4:35 p.m. in room 209B.
In addition to the RTS, attendees can attend sessions on using ML for corrosion management (Wednesday, 8:00–10:00 a.m., room 104A), using AI resources for marketing (Wednesday, 2:00–3:00 p.m., AMPPiTheater 1), predicting coating degradation using ML (Thursday, 1:05–1:30 p.m., room 208 A&B), and using ML modelling to interpret coating defects (Thursday, 2:30–3:00 p.m., room 104A).
