Zinc Coatings Forum to Share Asset Protection Strategies

By Rebecca A. Bickham, Editor-in-Chief of Materials Performance (MP) magazine

Want an easily accessible option to learn about many technologies and preservation options in one session? Are you an asset owner (departments of transportation, municipalities, oil and gas companies, and other industrial companies), engineer, architect, specifier, or inspector?

If so, the “Zinc Coatings and Case Studies for Asset Protection in Corrosive Atmospheric Conditions” forum is probablyfor you! This event will be welcoming and applicable to new professionals, students, and other academia, as well as tenured experts and specialists.

Thursday’s session will discuss protective coatings case studies and other technical information on infrastructure such as bridges, storage tanks, structures in the electrical market, and other critical assets in corrosive atmospheres. It will include presentations from protective coatings experts, who will speak about coatings such as liquid zinc-rich coatings, hot-dip galvanizing, and thermal spray zinc metallizing.

All content was designed to share proven strategies for protecting steel substrates and provides multiple options for asset owners, specifiers, and inspectors to consider.

Attendees are expected to walk away with a better understanding of different options within zinc and zinc alloy coatings — including metallic and liquid — and how they can provide superior protection for infrastructure and assets. Additionally, attendees will learn how these options are sustainable and lead to long-term cost savings by way of preserving materials and assisting with maintenance and service life considerations.

The forum takes place on Thursday, March 19, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. local time in Room 371 AB. It will be one of the final sessions of the 2026 conference, which is being held inside Houston’s George R. Brown Convention Center.
