Tuesday Symposia Include Hydrogen, High Temps, Inspection Tools

Held inside Nashville's Music City Center, Tuesday symposia sessions during the AMPP Annual Conference + Expo 2025 will include the hydrogen industry, high-temperature materials, and coatings inspections instruments.

“Hydrogen &Emerging Fuels” will feature technical papers on a broad range of topics related to the hydrogen industry, such as hydrogen production challenges, material compatibilities, mitigation strategies, transport options, and challenges with transitioning existing energy systems to use with hydrogen. Papers include “Susceptibility of Vintage Pipe to Embrittlement in Hydrogen-Natural Gas Blends,” “Natural Gas Equipment Assessment for Hydrogen-Natural Gas Blends,” and “Probabilistic Assessment of Hydrogen Transportation System Components.” The symposia will take place from 8 a.m. to noon local time in Room 104C.

“High-Temperature Materials & Corrosion” will showcase experiences and development in material performance, testing, in-service case study, experimental framework and computation-assisted modeling of high temperature alloys and coatings and claddings for exposure at temperatures of 400 °C (752 °F) and above. Papers to be presented include “Chromium-Silicon Codeposition By Halide-Activated Pack Cementation,” “Corrosion Behavior of Materials for Prospective Use in Molten Salt Reactors,” and “Thermal Cycling Effects on Oxidation Behaviors of Commercial High-Temperature Alloys.” It runs from 8 a.m. to noon in Room 104A.

“Advancements in Coatings Inspection Instruments & Techniques” will explore the latest innovations in the tools and methodologies used for the inspection of protective coatings application. This session will present cutting-edge inspection instruments, such as advanced thickness gauges, adhesion testers, non-contact instruments, and digital imaging systems, along with their practical applications in various industries. Papers to be presented include “Minimum Requirements for Specified Inspection,” “What is the Best Way to Adjust for Surface Profile When Measuring Dry Film Thickness (DFT)?” and “Why Voltage Matters for High Voltage Holiday Testing on Steel— The Final Edition.” It will run from 8:00-9:30 a.m. in Room 101 C&D.
